Repeat interval and anti-flood control for Telegram

STOP SPAM treats a normal repeated listing differently from a spam campaign. The local cooldown quietly removes an exact copy posted too soon; the main detector evaluates mass distribution only with content and context.

✓ First post stays✓ No mute or SpamRating✓ Up to 168 hours

Updated September 9, 2026. Rules match the current exact-repeat policy and exclusions.

Local repeat cooldown

The feature compares normalized text from the same author inside one group. If the same meaningful text is posted before the selected interval ends, the new copy is removed and the original publication remains.

This is a housekeeping rule, not a spam verdict. It creates no offense, does not change SpamRating, does not train the shared spam-hash database and does not apply a mute or ban. A short notice can tell the member when the post may be repeated.

Exact duplicates only

An edited listing is not automatically treated as the same publication. This protects people who correct a price, contact or description.

How to choose the interval

  1. 1

    Select a group

    Open “AntiSpam settings for my groups” and choose the required chat.

  2. 2

    Open “Repeat interval”

    The setting is shown in the group's Extra settings screen.

  3. 3

    Choose the cooldown

    Turn it off, select 1, 24, 48 or 72 hours, or enter a custom value from 1 to 168 hours.

What the local cooldown excludes

  • regular replies and short conversational messages;
  • forwarded messages;
  • photo, video and other media publications;
  • active administrators;
  • allowlisted or immune users;
  • similar but not exact text.

Mass mailing is a separate check

When one account distributes a message across different groups or repeatedly posts a suspicious lure, the main anti-spam detector may use repetition as behavioral evidence. One cross-post is not an automatic conviction: a legitimate listing can reasonably appear in several communities.

Strong content - crypto fraud, fake easy income, a dangerous invite or a suspicious off-platform contact - can combine with repetition and trigger deletion plus the normal punishment ladder. That is a main-detector decision, not the local repeat interval.

Choosing a practical value

  • 1 hour for a fast-moving classifieds group;
  • 24 hours when one ad per day is allowed;
  • 48 or 72 hours for a slower feed;
  • custom when the group has a precise posting rule;
  • off when exact reposts are intentionally unrestricted.

Repeat-control FAQ

Will the original ad be deleted?

No. The local cooldown keeps the first publication and removes only a later exact copy posted too soon.

Will the author receive a mute?

Not from this local feature. A mute requires a separate anti-spam decision based on stronger evidence.

Can I allow one repeat every two days?

Yes. Choose 48 hours or use a custom value from 1 to 168 hours.

Why can a slightly changed spam post pass exact-repeat control?

Legitimate users also edit listings. Similar text is evaluated conservatively by the main detector instead of being deleted by a blind exact-copy rule.
